Mahrukh Fatima
On a rainy Tuesday, Zara wanders into an abandoned house on the edge of town, a place whispered about but never entered. There, on the cracked marble floor, she finds a single glass bangle. Black. Smooth. Perfect.
When she slips it on, it fits.
And that’s where the trouble begins.
The Bangle is a slow-burning psychological horror set in a small Pakistani town, where superstition, grief, and fate entwine. It’s about the objects we inherit, the stories we carry, and what happens when something we wear starts wearing us.
This is my first published short story. I wrote The Bangle as a love letter to my hometown — and to the quiet, unsettling ways the past holds on to us.
